Men Force Their Way Into Durham Home, Assault Woman, Police Say

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police said that two men forced their way into a home Sunday afternoon and sexually assaulted a woman.

The incident happened at 4:50 p.m. when four people were in a house in the 500 block of Holloway Street. Police said that two men -- one with a shotgun -- forced their way inside when a person within the house answered the door.

One man hit two men in the head with a gun before putting them into a closet, police said. The man with the shotgun then took a woman into another closet and sexually assaulted her, police said.

When police arrived, they saw two men jump out of a window.

One man was caught, police said.

Nelson Salvador Ponce Padilla of Raleigh was charged with four counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and entering, conspiracy to commit robbery, kidnapping and aiding and abetting first-degree sexual offense.
