Woods Fire Endangers Durham Shopping Center

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — A woods fire that burned dangerously close to a Durham shopping center is now under control.

The fire started around 3 p.m. behind the Patterson Place shopping center. Firefighters think tall bamboo resting against power lines caused the fire.

Around five acres burned during the fire. The Forestry Service conducted a controlled burn to keep the flames from spreading. They will continue monitoring the site through Friday evening.
