State Agents Make Marijuana Bust In Chatham County

— State agents have made a major marijuana bust in Chatham County.

They discovered 22,899 marijuana plants in a remote area.

The SBI found the plants Thursday, and agents returned today to bulldoze a path to the plant beds, cut them down and haul them off.

Authorities say the growers were camping at the site and may have been living there for days, but they had since fled.

No arrests have been made yet, but authorities say there are a couple of suspects.
