Man In Wheelchair Dies After Being Hit By Car

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating a fatal wreck involving a person in a wheelchair in Cumberland County.

The incident happened at midnight Thursday when a man in a wheelchair was crossing a road and was hit by a car.

North Carolina Highway Patrol officials said that a 2000 Honda was traveling west on Honeycutt Road at 30-40 mph when it hit David Elliott, who was in a wheelchair.

The speed limit in the area is 45 mph and authorities said that no charges would be filed against the driver, Hector Cruz.

The wreck happened just west of Fort Bragg in Cumberland County.
