Cary Seeks Public Opinion Regarding Mayor's Pay

Posted Updated

CARY — The Cary Town council will hold a meeting Monday to gather public opinion on boosting the mayor's salary.

Right now, the pay is about $20,000, but it would increase to about $60,000 under one proposal.

The idea has caused a stir ever since it was made public in late june. The move would make Mayor Glen Lang the only full-pay mayor in the state.

Lang defends the proposal, saying most mayors of major towns put in a full work week of time into their duties.

The meeting begins Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Cary Town Council chambers.
