FAYETTEVILLE — A hostage situation at the Fairfield Inn near Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville ended peacefully Friday afternoon.
Police say John McNair was in town to sign custody papers. He was in his hotel room with his 4-year-old son when a maid came into the room to clean it. The man allegedly pointed a gun at her, and she called the police.
Police say he discharged the weapon a couple of times, before throwing it out the door. For over two hours, he was hold up in the room with his son. Police were finally able to get him to come out of the hotel room and take him into custody.
He is expected to be charged with discharging a firearm and assault with a firearm.
The 4-year-boy was not hurt in the incident.
