MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Rusty Wallace, who retired last season after more than 20 years as a Nascar driver, has signed on to promote a new travel software package from Microsoft.

Titled

Street & Trips 2006 with GPS Locator

, the software is designed to help people plan trips and then track their current position utilizing a global positioning service equipped device.

The software is loaded through USB ports.

"I have spent 33 years racing professionally and have enjoyed every minute behind the wheel," said Wallace. "Microsoft believes all travelers should have just as much enjoyment on the road as I have, and has developed Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 with GPS Locator to make that possible. It's exciting to work with a company that approaches the road trip experience the same way I look at racing - with excitement."
