Authorities Investigate Break-Ins Of Smithfield Storage Units

Posted Updated

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Dozens of storage units in Smithfield were found with their locks snapped off and their contents scattered across the ground.

Authorities believe someone cut a hole into a fence at A1-Mini Storage located off Market Street sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning and broke into at least 50 units.

Company officials have not been able to determine if any items were stolen from the units.

Investigators believe the person or persons responsible may have been after something in particular.

The company that owns the storage units have been trying to contact the owners to alert them of the incident.
