Johnston Child Injured In Pedestrian Accident

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A 12 year-old boy was injured Tuesday after being hit by a car near his home.
According to authorities, the child went to check a mailbox, but didn't look both ways before crossing the street. The driver of the vehicle tried to swerve and avoid hitting the boy, but ended up striking him.
The boy was alert as he was taken to Wake Medical's trauma unit. No charges have yet been filed.
