Durham Year-Round Elementary Students To See Staggered Starts

Posted Updated

DURHAM — The school day will start a little later for Durham year-round elementary students.

In the coming school year, classes at Holt Elementary will begin at 8:15 a.m.; Pearsontown and Easley elementaries will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The new starting times were approved by the

Durham school board

Thursday as a way to allow more children to be bused to those schools.

The school board considered a 9 a.m. start time for the schools, but decided such a late start would cause too many inconveniences for families.
