Victim Identifed in Harnett County Drowning

LILLINGTON — The Harnett County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of a weekend drowing.

Deputies say Christopher Bailey, 11, of Fort Bragg, died after falling off a float at Acapulco Lake Sunday.

They sayBailey went to the lake with his brother and a family friend. It was believed the boy could swim, but he was given a float to use, anyway.

Witnesses say Bailey fell off the float and went into the water.After 20 minutes, rescue workers pulled him from 12 feet of water.

Bailey was rushed to Good Hope Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

This is the third drowning at the Harnett County lake in three years.
