BAHAMA — Many people cannot enjoy a vacation if they are worried about leaving their pets behind. Luckily, where there is a demand, there is a business opportunity.
Many pet owners are resorting to a new type of kennel -- a place where pets can get some R&R, too. One such place is the Pet's Companion Inn in Durham County.
The Inn is more like a pet resort. Pampered pooches can take a dip in the pool at Bahama Beach or opt for playtime with a trunk full of toys in the Couch Potato Lounge. They even get their own picnic treats.
"They're going to get a lot of attention. They're going to be played with throughout the day," says a pet owner. "They get individual care, and whenever you pick them up, they just say how much they love your dog. That's really nice to hear."
The Pet's Companion Inn Kennels and Catnap Cuttery is located in Bahama, north of Durham on Highway 501.
The Inn also offers a day camp for dogs and cats, keeping pets entertained while their owners are at work.
