DURHAM, N.C. — A brush fire near a car dealership caused damage to several automobiles in Durham.
Sparks from a passing train ignited the overnight fire in a grassy area on Hillsborough Road.
The vehicles that were damaged were repossessed. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread further.
Parts of North Carolina are under a red flag watch or warning. The watch and warning were issued because unseasonably high temperatures and high wind gusts could spread wildfires.
Residents are urged to hold off on burning yard debris on Thursday.
