Beddingfield H.S. Senior Wins Extra Effort Award

WILSON — Wyatt Yelverton, the captain of the baseball team, is an honor student atthe top of the senior class at Beddingfield High School.

Yelverton has lettered in soccer and football. He also pitches andplays centerfield for the baseball team.

"As a ballplayer, he is hard-nosed and gritty. He has atremendous work effort that separates him from other players," saysbaseball coach Jodie O'Neal.

Glen Griffin, Yelverton's teacher, says Wyatt gets along witheverybody.

"Wyatt is one of those rare students who goes beyond what is enough, Hehandles any type of situation well," says teacher Glen Griffin. "He fitsin well with his classmates. He is well-liked by everybody and all of histeachers respect him."

Yelverton says he always does his best at everything he does.

"I make timefor everything. I've had a mindsetthat I was going to handle all of this, and I think that I have done agoodjob," he says.

Wyatt Yelverton is this week's winner of the Extra Effort Award.
