FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville teacher's assistant is being honored as a good samaritan.
In a surprise assembly Wednesday at Pauline Jones Elementary School, Dianne King was applauded for a good deed. Back in April, King drove up on a one car accident involving the son of a soldier.
After calling 911, she called the teenager's family, then went to pick his mother up and take her to the hospital.
Lieutenant General Dan McNeill presented her with a Certification of Appreciation for being the type of neighbor everyone hopes to have.
"We have great relationships with surrounding communities, but this was an extraordinary deed and we thought we should recognize it," McNeill says.
"It was just the thing to do. I didn't think about it twice," King says.
King is also a parent facilitator at Pauline Jones Elementary. Her principal says what King did to help a parent comes naturally to her.
