Johnston County Thrift Set To Open Monday, Will Benefit Abused Women

SMITHFIELD — A Johnston County women's shelter is raising money the old fashioned way: the shelteris earning it.

Pizazz is a new resale clothing store run by Harbor, a women's shelter for batteredwomen in Smithfield.

Proceeds from the store will benefit the many women and children coming to the sheltereach monthfor help.

"It may be in the middle of the night that they have to flee from a violent sitution. They may have just been beaten.They have no where to turn. They come into our shelter with absolutely nothing, sowhey they arrive we need to provide everything fro them and their children once they get there," says Keri Christiansen,the Executive Director of Harbor.

The women and children in Harbor's shelter will get to pick clothes off the rack forfree. The store will also give out information for women seeking help.

The store's grand opening is Monday at 10am.
