Suspect Charged After All For Hiding Camera In Women's Shower

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A man accused of installing a hidden camera at a Catholic retreat center near Smithfield has been charged, after all.

Johnston County authorities Tuesday arrested Jose Aguilar for violating a peeping statute.

Aguilar, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, put a camera in the women's shower at the Short Journey Retreat Center, where he was attending a retreat.

Initially however, authorities said they could not charge Aguilar since the camera did not record any images.

Authorities said they did not think the camera had been at the center long. They think the suspect intended to record women in the shower and sell the tapes.
