GOLDSBORO — Half of the charges that put Goldsboro High School's band director behind bars have been dropped.

Ron Baxter, 26, still faces three charges of having sexual relations with a juvenile.

Police say the law forbidding sex between teachers and students age 16 and older did not take effect until last December.

Some of the accusations involved activity before the new law.

Two female students claim they were taken to Baxter's house for sex.

One of them claims to have been intimate with Baxter on campus.
