RALEIGH — The Christmas season is off to a good start in Raleigh.

It was chilly Saturday morning, but people were cheerful as the 56th Annual Raleigh Christmas Parade inched through downtown streets. Santa Claus even flew in from the North Pole for his annual appearance, signaling the start of the holiday season.

If you missed the parade when we aired it live on WRAL-TV5, you can see it on cable. It will run Monday at 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday at 12 p.m. on Channel 23 in Durham and Channel 24 in Raleigh.

This was the first Raleigh Christmas Parade to be produced and broadcast in high-definition television, airing Saturday night onWRAL Digital, Channel 53.
