DURHAM — The search for a missing boy in Durham has ended happily.

Matthew Pettus, 6, turned up shortly after midnight, after being missing for hours.

His mother reported him missing after he did not come home from day care.

Matthew was supposed to take the bus to his day care after school, but he says the bus driver put him on the bus that takes him home instead.

It turns out that when returned home, his uncle was there. The two went out for the evening, coming home late Thursday.

Durham police say no charges will be filed.
