Two Die in Early Morning Wreck Along I-40

DURHAM — Emergency crews and the Highway Patrol remain at the scene of a fatal wreck along I-40 in Durham County.
Around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a vehicle came off the I-40 exit ramp onto 15-501 and t-boned another vehicle. A Jeep and a compact car were involved.
Two people in the car died.
The cleanup from the accident is causing traffic backups and delays. A Durham dispatcher says traffic is especially slow along the eastbound lanes of I-40.
Drivers are urged to avoid this area if possible.
