WAKE COUNTY — A dream came true for one local boy this week when he accomplished a major goal - playing golf.

Nathan Woodward hasn't been able to play any sports, because he's living with muscular dystrophy.

He got his chance this week to play golf at Wakefield Plantation and work with junior golf instructor Wes Owens, who was in town for a kids’ golf clinic.

“I think it just shows me and other people who said I can’t do stuff, it shows that I can do anything I set my mind to, with some exceptions,” Nathan said.

Owens watched as Nathan picked up his first golf club and took a swing.

“Being able to work with him in those five days and to see what he can do, I mean, the sky is the limit for the kid. It’s unbelievable,” he said.

Nathan's success has everything to do with his self confidence, according to Owens.

As for Nathan, he said he plans to improve his game and get his parents and grandparents out on the links.
