HARNETT COUNTY — The controversy over an ailing dalmatian has people growling about animal rights.
Supporters of Duchess the dalmatian presented a petition to Harnett County commissioners Monday night. They want the county to do more to protect pets and prevent another pet from suffering like Duchess.
A neighbor took the dog from her owners when she noticed her foot rotting off.
Duchess is recovering with another family. Both the neighbor and its owners now face charges. The Moats, Duchess' owners, will appear in court Thursday to face charges of misdemeanor animal cruelty.
