Missing N.C. State Student Found Safe

RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina State University student who had been missing for nearly two weeks was found Sunday morning.

Vitor Franchito, 23, was last seen Feb. 5 buying cigarettes at a convenience store on Western Boulevard. Friends said he was upset that his fiancée returned to Brazil.

According to a family friend, someone in Morrisville recognized Franchito from fliers that had beend distributed. Franchito was sighted on Airport Boulevard and was taken to the Morrisville Police station and later to a local hospital, where he was being kept for observation.

Franchito's father, Jose Ricardo Franchito, confirmed late Sunday morning that his son had been found, but said he was not ready to comment further.
