Early Morning Johnston Crash Kills One

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — The Highway Patrol reopened part of Interstate 40 in Johnston County early Saturday morning after a deadly crash.

Authorities said that a vehicle was going east on I-40 near McGee's Crossroads when the driver lost control of the car, ran off the road, overcorrected and overturned. Omar Diaz, 20, was ejected from his passenger seat and killed.

Diaz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The accident remains under investigation, and there is no word yet on possible charges.
