Buddy the Singing Dog Bound for Big Apple

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Talent is taking a Raleigh dog and its owners to the Big Apple. The pooch's performance paved the way for what could be a career as a canine vocalist.

Buddy, a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix, came from humble beginnings as a homeless stray. The Fetter family saved Buddy from his lonely existence, filling his dog days with love and song.

Many dogs howl at the moon or sing with a tune -- but Buddy is a Top-40 dog. Buddy's canon of music includes everything from Sinatra to "How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?", from "Jingle Bells" to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

Advantage Flea Control searched the country for the best canine crooners. Buddy's pipes won him a spot in the championship round, set for September 13 in New York City.

The Fetters hope Buddy will lick the competition. The singing dog champion will win a package worth $6,000, including a recording contract.
