RALEIGH — A string of burglaries in downtown Raleigh has one common thread -- the stolen goods are Pokémon playing cards.
For the third time this year, the owner of Holly's Hallmark store on the Fayetteville Street Mall is the victim of a break-in. The last two burglaries took place over the weekend, with thieves taking $3,500 worth of cards.
"They obviously knew their Pokémons. They took the latest and the most desirable cards," says store owner Scott Snavely. "That's the sad part of it, I guess."
Snavely says he may just sell all his Pokémon cards at a discount to get rid of them. He also signed a contract with a security company Tuesday.
