Fire Routs Sunday Shoppers at Fayetteville Lowe's

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayetteville home-improvement store is doing some improvements of its own after a devastating fire.

A Sunday night fire at the Lowe's store on Skibo Road did about $300,000 in damage. Investigators believe the fire was an arsonist's work.

Hundreds of employees and customers ran out of the store, but no one was injured.

There is no word from corporate headquarters in North Wilkesboro on when the store might reopen.

Lowe's was the target of fire and bombing attacks last year in different parts of the state. A suspect, George Rocha, was arrested and later pleaded guilty to those crimes.

Investigators are asking for the help of shoppers. Anyone who was in the store aroudn 8 p.m. Sunday and may have noticed anything suspicious should call910-433-1856.
