Posted Updated

RALEIGH — AnIMAXtheater remains in the picture for downtown Raleigh.

TheRaleigh City Councilthreatened to reconsider the project because of an argument with Wake County. The two governments were fighting over profits from the new soccer complex they are funding.

The City Council has offered a compromise that is not tied to the IMAX theater. Raleigh Mayor Paul Coble says the compromise gives the county the upper hand.

"I'm afraid that we're going to see the soccer kicked back to us for further discussion and further debate," Coble says.

Raleigh's City Council is offering a compromise where each government would get profits from the soccer complex. Both would be liable if it fails.

Several Raleigh and Wake County leaders have expressed doubts about whether the project will ever turn a profit.
