Raleigh Mayor Responds To WRAL Investigation

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker has asked for a full report into concerns about many downtown parking spots being taken up by handicapped drivers.

On Monday, WRAL reported on complaints from downtown business owners and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, who question whether a state law, which allows handicapped motorists to park in time-limited parking for as long as they want, is fair.

The Downtown Raleigh Alliance says it is bad for business.

Meeker hopes the City Council can participate in getting the law changed.
