It was a close call for a couple flying out of Sampson County Thursday night.
Lanny Lancaster and Shannon Payne were taking off in a twin-engine plane when something went wrong.
The plane crashed in a wooded area just off a runway.
Payne and Lancaster were able to get out of the plane just before it burst into flames.
Lancaster was treated for minor injuries. Payne suffered no injuries
