A first degree murder charge  has been lodged against Michael L. Carter, 42, in the gun death of Edith M.  Woodard, 46.

They had lived at the Schenley Square mobile home park.  Carter went to a  neighbor's trailer to call police, saying that he was not home at the time  of the shooting.  Woodard was found dead in the bedroom with a gunshot to the  leg; autopsy results have not been released.

Raleigh police Sgt. D.S. Overman said there had been a domestic dispute,  although there were no signs of struggle in the home
