Farmers Try to Recoup Crop Damage from Storms

Severe weather didn't pose as much of a threat Wednesday night as first feared, but it did cause extensive crop damage in Wayne County. Although a few funnel clouds were spotted in Johnston County and northeast Wake County, there were no reports of injuries or tornadoes actually touching down in our area.
The National Weather Service confirms one tornado touched down in Rowan County, causing minor damage. Wind and hail damage were reported in Wake, Wayne and Johnston counties.
Many farmers headed for insurance offices Thursday. Some found out they'll have to wait a while.
Some minor flooding also was reported in area counties
