KNIGHTDALE — May 3, 1996 - 3:45 p.m. EDT
For the second time in less than a year, a Knightdale teen is missing.
Jennifer Ryals walked away from her adoptive grandmother's home last May sparking a nationwide search. As before, authorities say they have no idea where the emotionally-troubled girl may have gone this time.
She disappeared last Saturday night from a Wrightsville Beach motel where her family was vacationing. She took only the clothes she was wearing and a make-up case.
Last July, Jennifer turned up in Maryland after two months on the road. She was picked up there for shoplifting in a drugstore.
Since then, she has spent most of her time in counseling, most recently at a Harnett county group home where she stayed during the week, spending weekends with her family.
Jennifer was recently taken off an anti-depressent drug. It is possible withdrawal may have triggered a return to her old behavior.
As it did last year, the State Center For Missing Persons has joined in the search for Jennifer
