Tour DuPont Cyclists Pedal Into Raleigh Friday

The race that attracts the best cyclists from more than 20 countries arrives Friday in Raleigh, and bicycle enthusiasts are gearing up for America's premier cycling event.

Event organizer Jim Lavery says it took three years of negotiating to bring the race to the Triangle. Listen toaufile.

For race volunteer Katy Weatherly, it's a dream come true to have the event come to her for a change.

Cyclist Barney Baxter is looking forward to some of the official events that will take place during the Raleigh portion of the Tour DuPont.

The Tour DuPont began Wednesday in Wilmington, Del. On Friday morning, racers will leave Emporia, Va., and cross the finish line in Raleigh about 1:15 p.m.
