A CP&L substation malfunctioned Monday afternoon knocking out power to Crabtree Valley, Pleasant Valley and points north.
About 3,500 homes and businesses were affected and, at the time, CP&L officials did not know how long it would take to restore power.
The outage occurred at about 3 p.m., and repair crews were dispatched immediately, according to the power company.
By 4:35, the Blue Ridge power substation was repaired and power was restored to the entire area
