Just before 1 p.m. Sunday, law officers ended an armed standoff in Duplin County that had begun the day before.
Donald Boone, 50, was taken to Duplin County Hospital, where he reportedly was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. Boone earlier allegedly had shot one officer in the arm. Two other officers were injured by flying glass. All are reported in good condition.
The confrontation began Saturday when officers showed up at Boone's mobile home to serve him with involuntary commitment papers.
Duplin County officers and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) will continue to investigate the incident but a spokesman said felony charges are pending against Boone. Those charges include assault with a deadly weapon and intent to inflict serious injury.
When the confrontation began, Boone's wife and child were in the mobile home with him. They were later released unharmed, and Boone remained alone in the trailer.
Boone was said to be armed with a high-powered rifle. About 9 Saturday evening, the lights along Ward's Bridge Road, near the trailer, went out but it's not clear if that was related to the standoff. Nearby residents had been evacuated.
The SBI had sent a three-member team to Duplin County to negotiate with Boone
