The condition of a 5-year-old Raleigh girl hit by a Capital Area Transit bus last week has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

Cassaundra Lancaster and her 7-year-old brother were hit during Wednesday evening rush-hour traffic. The siblings were both riding on the same bike -- down the sidewalk of a steep hill -- when the CAT bus made a right turn onto Millbank Street from the northbound lanes of Raleigh Boulevard.

The children rode off the sidewalk in front of the bus, police said.

No charges were filed against the bus driver
