DURHAM — March 13, 1996 - 4:10 p.m. EST
Many flowers are hardy enough to survive the rollercoaster weather of late winter and early spring, but this year's temperatures have just been too cold for the flora at a favorite local garden spot.
The past week's freezing temperatures have visited disaster on Duke Gardens, and groundskeepers say the March blooms will not rebound.
Some of the worst-hit varieties include flowering Magnolia trees and Jonquils.
Visitors to Duke Gardens will have to wait until April to see signs of spring
