A former NC State basketball star is behind bars in the nation's capital.
Charles "Hawkeye" Whitney is accused of holding a White House aide at gunpoint, and forcing him to withdraw cash from several ATM machines.
Whitney wore the number 43 for State in the late 1970's, before he became a first-round draft choice for the Kansas City Kings.
His basketball career was brought to an end by a knee injury and he dropped out of the sports world
