Wolfpack Looks to Kick Special Team Habits

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — The Wolfpack special teams were woeful on Saturday. A blocked punt and high snap helped seal the Wolfpack's fate versus Georgia Tech. It is one area N.C. State needs to improve before Duke invades Carter-Finley.

If Saturday's game comes down to special teams, give the advantage to Duke. N.C. State has struggled in that facet of their game, especially against Georgia Tech.

"Hopefully, we are going to get [our problems] corrected as the season goes on and get better," coach Mike O'Cain said. "I think we have gotten better. We just had one of those games Saturday when it starts bad, it kind of flows and we could not get it to stop."

The Wolfpack bounced back after their first loss of the season, and they expect to do the same Saturday. N.C. State star Torry Holt say the Pack still has plenty to play for.

"We want to show the guys in the stands the importance of playing well week in and week out," Holt said. "I have to take it upon myself to do that, and coach O'Cain and the staff have to take it upon themselves to do that to make sure we stay consistent week in and week out."

The Pack will need that consistency versus an improving Blue Devil Squad.
