RALEIGH — Governor Jim Hunt laid out his top priorities to get victims of Hurricane Floyd back on their feet in a televised address Tuesday evening.

After saving lives and meeting basic human needs, Hunt says the state's goal is to get people back into their own homes or into temporary homes.

The governor is working on a long-term plan to build new homes and rebuild the economy.

"It'll be a long and difficult job restoring people and their communities to their normal lives. But we can do it, we will do it. We won't stop until the job is finished. It is time to open our hands and our hearts to people who need help."
