State Utilities Commission Approves Decrease In Natural Gas Rates

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — There is good news for natural gas customers in North Carolina.

The state Utilities Commission has approved a decrease to the purchased gas component of PSNC's retail natural gas rates. The decrease is in effect for February bills.

"Because of the downward turn in wholesale prices, we're pleased to be able to implement our second 'cost of gas' decrease this winter," said PSNC Energy President and Chief Operating Officer Rusty Harris.

The decrease will lower the company's total year-round residential rate by a little more than 13 percent, which translates into a monthly decrease of approximately $20 for the average customer.
