Johnston County Authorities Need Your Help To Solve First Murder Of Year

Posted Updated

JOHNSTON COUNTY — Johnston County is asking for your help in solving their first murder of the year.

Just before midnight Tuesday, deputies say someone shot a 29-year-old Hispanic male in the head on his front porch in Wilson's Mills. Deputies later found out the victim had been at a Zip Mart on Highway 70 in east Clayton earlier in the night.

A surveillance camera also showed another Hispanic male who was there at the same time and may have crucial information.

"Maybe he saw who the victim was with, or if he was with the victim when they were at the store. Anything he may have seen that might help us," says Lt. Dale Wheeler of the Johnston County Sheriff's Office.

The person in the surveillance video is considered a witness, not a suspect. If you know who the person is, you are asked to call the Johnston County Sheriff's Office at919-989-5000.
