Wake Schools Planning Smallest Reassignment Plan Since '94

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Wake County parents will not have to worry too much about their kids being switched to a new school.

School leaders on Monday will unveil their smallest school reassignment plan since 1994.

Only about 1,000 students will switch schools next fall, if the proposal is approved. There is no need for big changes because voters rejected the school system's bond referendum in 1999. As a result, there are no new schools to fill next fall.

The school board must vote on the plan before it becomes official.
