<b>PIKEVILLE</b> — A single-engine plane fell from the sky into a field Thursday afternoon near the  Wayne County town of Pikeville.

One victim is in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other victim was transferred to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.  There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

Investigators say the plane left a nearby airport and may have been circling back when it went down.
