A federal inmate was charged Friday with attempted murder in the prison stabbing of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd. John Turscak stabbed Chauvin 22 times in the law library at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona, with an improvised knife, federal prosecutors said.

<b>CUMBERLAND COUNTY</b> — A head-on collision with a tractor-trailer killed a Cumberland County woman and her 6-year-old son on Wednesday.

Thelma and Kaliff Caulder were waiting to turn left on Highway 87 near Sandhills Road at 4:30 p.m. when they were hit from behind.

Investigators say a car, driven by Ruby McMillan, knocked them into the path of the on-coming tractor-trailer.

McMillan is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
