RALEIGH — Students atUNC Chapel Hillare getting slapped with a tuition increase, and the same thing may happen toN.C. Statestudents.

Thursday, over 100 students gathered on campus to take a stand against the proposed increase. Even though students held up signs asking people to honk if they support their cause, the demonstration was called a silent protest.

"We called it a silent protest because if the tuition increase happens at N.C. State, the campus would be silent. Many students would leave this campus," said student Rachel Overcash.

Chancellor Marye Anne Foxpresented the proposal to the Board of Trustees Thursday. If approved, it could raise the cost of tuition $1,500 over five years.
