Cary Store Clerk Returns Money To Former Employer

Posted Updated

WAKE COUNTY — A Cary convenience store clerk who faked his own disappearance is trying to make amends for his actions.

Larry Jones walked into Wake County District Court Thursday and paid back the $23,000 he took from Cary Oil Company. The Cary Oil Company owned the Parkway Convenience Store where Jones worked before his March 16 disappearance.

Jones reappeared last month after two years on the run. Police say Jones told them he left his wife and children behind because life got too tough.

He must still perform 255 hours of community service. -->
