JOHNSTON COUNTY — Two Johnston County boys are in stable condition at UNC's Burn Center after being burned Monday.
The Johnston County Sheriff says 13-year-old John Brown and his 12-year-old brother Kyle were at a neighbor's house where some trash was being burned.
The sheriff says a paint can in or near the fire blew up, burning one of the boys. The other boy was then burned after he kicked the can back towards the fire and it exploded again.
In initial reports, the brothers claimed someone had thrown acid on them.
